Jesper Parnevik is the person responsible for introducing Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods. Looking back, he does have regrets about linking the two, especially given the way things ended between the couple. Things took a turn when Elin read some of the text messages on Tiger's phone and clearly, things were never the same from that moment on.
The two agreed on a massive settlement worth $100 million. However, as we'll reveal in the following, Nordegren went on with her life following the split, obtaining a degree while going back to work. We'll take a closer look at what inspired her to make such a decision, and what life was like before Tiger.
We're also going to take a look at Elin's thoughts on the settlement money, and how it helped her life. It is clear, Tiger's ex has moved on since the scandal.
Elin Nordegren Had A Completely Different Reality As A Nanny And Model Before Meeting Tiger Woods
Things were very different for Elin Nordegren prior to meeting Tiger Woods. In fact, the first time she met Woods, Nordegren had no intention of dating the golfer as she wasn't interested.
Prior to her life of fame, it was a tamer reality for Nordegren. She was a model, however, she never really considered herself as one.
"I did some modeling when I was younger. I was never very successful at it, and I didn't intend to pursue it. It is flattering to be called a model, but I hardly think a few shoots in my teenage years make me a model," she told People in 2010.
Doing lots of traveling as a model, Elin's goal was to settle down and finally pursue her studies. The goal was to major in psychology.
"My intent was to go back to Sweden after a year and start my psychology studies," she said. "'Swimsuit model and nanny' isn't accurate today, but they are things that I have done. They were both great experiences."
Although that didn't end up being the case thanks to her life with Tiger Woods, she would circle back on the education part of it. Not only did Nordegren return to school following her split from Woods, but she would also work a new career despite her massive settlement.
Elin Nordegren Went Back To School Following Her Divorce From Tiger Woods And Became A Mental Health Counselor Intern
Following her split from Tiger, Elin turned to education. Not a bad plan... Nordegren graduated with a 3.96 GPA in 2014. At her graduation ceremony, Elin went into detail as to what the moment meant to her.
"Education has been the only consistent part of my life the last nine years. And it has offered me comfort. Education is one thing that no one can take away from you," Nordegren said.
"When you told me stories about your full-time day jobs, about coming home to cook dinner for your families and about making sure your children were cared for while you were attending classes, you inspired me. … Whatever obstacle I was facing at the time, your stories and sharing helped me put things in perspective."
According to The Sun, Nordegren became a registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in 2018. Elin would also take the additional steps of registering her business, which was active with an annual report as of 2019.
The office building was close from her Florida mansion. Surreal that despite the $100 million, Nordegren went back to her original plan of finishing her studies.
Elin Nordegren Admitted The Settlement Money Didn't Make Her Happier, But Made Things Easier From A Children Perspective
Nordegren didn't shy away from discussing the settlement money. Elin revealed that money doesn't but happiness, but in this case, it did make things a lot easier in her personal life.
"Money doesn't make you happy, but I have to be honest: It is making some things easier," she revealed with People. "I have the opportunity to be with my children as much I want, and I am able to travel to see my family and also have them come here as often as I like."
Elin would go on to admit that her plan was always to have a career - and that remained true with or without Tiger Woods. However, clearly, priorities shifted for Elin once that divorce was initiated.
"I was always going to have a career — with or without Tiger. Now that I will not be traveling and following Tiger around to golf tournaments, I will be able to finish my studies faster. Then I want to find a way to contribute and make a positive difference in people's lives."
Elin has certainly done so, while keeping things amicable with Tiger despite the controversy surrounding their divorce.
